Iowa’s News Now is looking for a Weatherman/Weekend Reporter to present the news weather forecast and a science-based WYM. As our meteorologist, you are responsible for the weather content broadcast on air and on our digital platforms.

The main daily responsibilities of the position will include…

  • Forecast, produce and present clear and concise weather forecasts that tell a story and connect with viewers.
  • Issue warnings and alerts, generate graphs and maps, and report live during weather events
  • Use social media during severe weather as well as write weather stories
  • Make public appearances on behalf of the station.
  • Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in everyday and off-duty situations
  • Reports 3 days a week on weather and news

What skills do you need to be successful in our role?

  • Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories, we value visual and compelling storytelling
  • Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots.
  • Deep understanding of forecasting.
  • Keen news judgment and exceptional writing skills.
  • Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
  • Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 2 years weather presentation and reporting experience preferred
